There is no shortage of communities in world.
There are WhatsApp groups for founders, Telegram channels for developers, Discord servers for creatives, Slack workspaces for professionals, and Facebook groups for everything in between. Communities exist for every interest, every industry, every stage of life.
And yet - finding the right one is still one of the most frustrating experiences a person can have.
You search Google. You get a blog post from 2019. You find an Instagram page with 400 followers and no join link. You click a WhatsApp link that expired three months ago. You ask a friend who sends you another link. That one expired too. You give up.
This is community discovery right now. And it is broken.
That gap is why we built BLOCspace.
What Is BLOCspace?
BLOCspace is a community discovery and growth platform - one place where people can find trusted, vetted communities across Africa and Beyond, and where communities can get the visibility and tools they need to grow.
Every community on BLOCspace has been researched and reviewed. You get the full picture before you click anything, what the community is about, who it is for, what platform it runs on, whether it is free or paid, how many members it has, and a direct link to join.
No dead links. No guessing. No hunting across five different platforms just to find basic information.
For community owners BLOCspace is a growth tool - a permanent structured listing on the web where the right people can find you, a BLOC'd badge that signals trust and credibility, and over time the visibility tools, analytics, and opportunities that help communities grow beyond word of mouth.
Why We Started in Nigeria
Nigeria has one of the most active community cultures in the world.
Professional networks, faith communities, alumni associations, tech collectives, women's circles, founder groups, creative hubs - Nigerians build and join communities with extraordinary energy and commitment. Community is not a concept here. It is how things actually get done.
And yet the infrastructure for finding those communities has not kept up. There is no trusted directory. No single place to go. No credibility signal that tells you whether a community is active, well-run, and worth your time.
We are building that infrastructure - starting in Nigeria because this is where the problem is most urgent and where we understand it best. The world is the destination. Nigeria is our starting point.
The Two Problems We Are Solving
BLOCspace exists because of two problems that feed each other.
The discovery problem: People looking for communities cannot find them. The search experience is fragmented, unreliable, and exhausting. Great communities stay small not because they are not valuable but because they are invisible.
The visibility problem: Communities working hard to grow are limited to word of mouth, social media algorithms, and hope. There is no structured place to build a web presence, no credibility signal to show new members, and no infrastructure to connect active communities with the partners, investors, and opportunities that could help them scale.
BLOCspace solves both sides simultaneously. Better discovery for people. Better visibility for communities.
What Makes BLOCspace Different
There are platforms where communities exist. Facebook Groups, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord - communities live on all of them.
But none of them are built for discovery. None of them vet the communities listed on them. None of them give you structured, complete information before you join. And none of them are built with community ecosystem in mind.
BLOCspace is building the future of community discovery, starting with Nigeria. - with a vetting process that protects quality, a badge system that rewards credibility, and a structure that puts the most important information front and centre.
We are not competing with WhatsApp or Discord. We are the discovery layer that sends people to the communities that live there.
Where We Are Today
We launched quietly and have spent the past several months doing the work that does not look impressive from the outside - researching communities, building the platform, refining the listing process, and learning what community owners and seekers actually need.
Today we have over 30 communities listed across categories including Tech and Dev, Founders and Startups, Women in Tech, Learning and Digital Skills, Creative and Design, Social Impact, and Fun and Hangouts. We are legally registered, building in public, and getting ready for a fuller launch.
This is not a finished product. It is a platform with a clear direction, real communities already on it, and a team that believes the best communities deserve to be found.
What Is Coming
The BLOCspace you see today is the beginning. Here is where we are headed:
Community owners will be able to claim their listings, complete their profiles, and earn the BLOC'd badge - our trust signal that tells users a community has been reviewed and approved.
An opportunities section where members can access programs, training, grants, and career openings curated specifically for community-minded people across Nigeria and Africa.
Events - so community hangouts, professional summits, and everything in between can be discovered in one place.
Growth tools and analytics for community owners to understand how their communities are growing and where their members are coming from.
And eventually the infrastructure to connect active, trusted communities with the investors, brands, and partners who want to support them.
